The European economy has rebounded since then, but some say the eurozone crisis still threatens the future of the euro and the EU itself. The EU reassured investors that it would guarantee the debt of all eurozone members. At the same time, it asked indebted countries to install austerity measures to ratchet down their spending. Although at times it seems that we are heading to a cashless society, there are times when only cash in accepted. However, it was under the presidency of Jacques Delors when central bank governors of the EU countries produced the ‘Delors Report’ on how EMU could be achieved.
